Here we focus on something truly unique – performances of many of this peerless master’s enduring compositions, captured in pristine, studio-quality audio MP3 recordings and taken at VERY SLOW and VERY RELAXING tempos.

We do this because, based on surviving accounts, it was evident to lovers of Bach’s music during his lifetime, as well as to other such lovers worldwide in the nearly three hundred years since his death in 1750, that slower tempos used in performances of his works enable listeners and performers to gain a better appreciation and enjoyment of his music’s sonic beauty, its structural brilliance and its many personal benefits to their minds, bodies and souls.

And even his works normally heard at faster tempos yield all of this when taken at much slower ones.

SlowBach.Com affirms this and aims to become one of the Internet’s primary demonstrators of, advocates for and providers of downloadable specimens of this monumental slowdown.

The legacy of Bach rests on a surviving body of over 1,100 works. What is not so widely known is the fact that this only represents approximately ten percent (10%) of what he actually wrote down. After his death in 1750, the great majority of his manuscripts were lost, burned or turned to dust by the ravages of time. Yet that ten percent has grown to become one of Western civilization’s richest and most revered creations in any art form.

Very few of Bach’s manuscript works bear any tempo markings (the metronome was not invented until 64 years after his death, in 1814). But with SlowBach.Com his works’ notes, not their performance tempos, remain the same.

And, as with those of all other composers everwhere, it is the notes that carry the music.

about us

All Professionally Performed

Every SlowBach.Com recording features professional studio-level performances by the SlowBachWorks Ensemble, which combines the etherial sounds of Harp, bowed Strings and wordless Chorus to give serenity, sensitivity and substance to each piece,  in keeping with our commitment at SlowBach.Com to honor Bach’s genius while reimagining his works in a distinctly modern way.

In Slow Tempos and Deep Relaxation

While Bach’s compositions are nowadays frequently performed worldwide at much faster speeds, we at SlowBach.Com believe that there is much beauty and benefit to be had in experiencing his music at much slower tempos.

Following this, the interpretations of the Slow Bach Works Ensemble will enable you to:

  • More fully appreciate the intricate counterpoint and harmonic richness found in Bach’s music
  • Enjoy heightened internal serenity in personal meditation, prayer and reflection on matters both Earth-bound and Divine
  • Discover new layers of meaning through both musical themes and attendant harmonies
  • Create the perfect accompaniment to personal quiet time, study, physical exercise (such as Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga, stretching or balancing) and sleep.
